I can name more books coming out this month that I’m excited for than I have friends. It’s sort of depressiong, really. But hey! At least, I’ll never run out of books to read! I’ll take small victories wherever I can find them.
My tbr list for this month consists mostly of January releases (because I will keep up with new releases this year even if it kills me goddammit!), two 2018 releases and two 2017 releases!
Let’s get into it!
➽ An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks
So I’ve decided to read more psychological thrillers this year because I obviously love burdening my life with drama and emotional turmoil. Hence, this book.
➽ Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
Ok but can they keep it as faithfully as the whole state of Tennessee when Hannah Montana told them she was actually Miley Stewart and they told her sure we’re keeping your secret and the secret never got out? Doubtful. I AM SO PUMPED FOR THIS BOOK!
➽ The Girl in the Tower (Winternight Trilogy #2) by Katherine Arden
On Today’s Topic Of Books I Was Supposed To Read Last Year But It Didn’t Happen: This Book. The third book is coming out this month so I need to chop chop and read this one. Also, I miss Vasya, I hope she’s out there, fucking up some men’s lives.
This is a buddy read with Lindsay whom I’ve been friends with for literally a week now after I texted her and we validated each other’s anger and frustration over *a certain book* only to discover that we have so much in common and wow I’m so glad the universe let me meet her??
➽ The Dead Queens Club by Hannah Capin
“Mean Girls meets The Tudors in Hannah Capin’s The Dead Queens Club, a clever contemporary YA retelling of Henry VIII and his wives (or, in this case, his high school girlfriends)“
First of all, who wrote this pitch and have they issued a public apology for getting us way too fucking excited for this book???? IM PRACTICALLY VIBRATING IN MY SEAT
➽ Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor #1) by Mark Lawrence
Girls!!! Raised!!! To!!! Be!!! Killers!!!!!!! Need I really say more?
➽ King of Scars (Nikolai Duology #1) by Leigh Bardugo
[MY JAW UNHINGES AND UNHOLY SOUNDS ERUPT FROM MY THROAT] LEIGH CONFIRMED THAT NINA ZENIK’S STORY WILL CONTINUE IN THIS BOOK!!!!
I’m honestly just so glad Leigh Bardugo is aware of her own mortality and is churning out a new series every year, like, yes queen!! make use of the book publishing industry available now to add to your legacy!!!!
➽ An American Marriage by Tayari Jones
This book was named an Oprah’s Book Club Selection and when Oprah tells you to read a book, you read the damn book!
➽ An Orchestra of Minorities by Chigozie Obioma
This is a story about a Nigerian poultry farmer who sacrifices everything to win the woman he loves, with contemporary twist on the Odyssey. It sounds incredible!
➽ Jade City (The Green Bone Saga #1) by Fonda Lee
CW at The Quiet Pond has singlehandedly made me want to read this book! Fonda Lee also won THE WORLD FANTASY AWARD for it so I’m pretty excited!
➽ A Curse So Dark and Lonely (A Curse So Dark and Lonely #1) by Brigid Kemmerer
I’m a simple girl…I hear book is a retelling of Beauty and The Beast, I add book to my tbr, I suffer waiting for book’s release date.
➽ The Gutter Prayer (The Black Iron Legacy #1) by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan
“A group of three young thieves are pulled into a centuries old magical war between ancient beings, mages, and humanity in this wildly original debut epic fantasy.”
If Leonardo DiCaprio can wait 23 years for his Oscar then I sure as hell can wait a few more weeks for this book.
➽ Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer
This is a reimagining of “East of the Sun, West of the Moon” where a young woman, Echo, bargains with the same wolf that scarred her face in order to save her father, and must spend one year with the wolf in his mysterious “house under the mountain.” Sounds messed up, I’m in!
That’s it, friends! I have a checkered history with preordained TBRs because I am aggressively a mood reader but let’s hope I can get into at least half this list!
Any of these books on your tbr? Let me know!
